Several hundred people lined up to be the first inside Hollywood Slots when it opened Friday morning at ten o'clock. There was a ribbon cutting and a red carpet, and Marilyn Monroe and James Dean lookalikes were on hand to provide some Hollywood glamor.
It's been two years since Maine voters gave the green light to slot machines at harness-racing tracks. Penn National Gaming is starting slow, with a temporary facility with 475 slot machines while preparing to build a larger, permanent casino.
Hope Poulin was at the front of the line this morning, having arrived at 6:30 to ensure her spot as history was made. She says she regularly visits casinos and she says it's "about time" that Maine got into the act.
