Thieves stole the jackpot at a Kum & Go TouchPlay machine March 1st morning.

The police say the criminal or criminals walked out the door at 2919 E. 14th St., taking more than $2,400. These popular gaming machines have suffered many thefts recently, of which this was the latest.

According to Police Lt. Ray Rexroat, a customer came out of a gaming area and told a clerk some one had tampered with one of the machines. The clerk took a look to confirm the events and then called the police very early in the morning.

The lieutenant declared that three people were in the room a moment earlier but it is still unknown whether they were involved in the crime or not. An image of the theft may have been caught by the surveillance cameras in the area of the machine. Detectives are checking the recordings to see if they registered the moment of the crime and the culprits can be recognized.
