From October on “play… somewhere else”

The Riojana Gambling Association (ARJA) is preparing a campaign with the motto “Play... somewhere else”, “to avoid minor from playing slots,” said the psychologist Concha Santo Tomás.

It’s a nice campaign that aims to parents and slots parlors owners, to make them realize that minors are playing slots, and every day that passes more kind, and younger kids everyday start playing slots.

Online casinos to advertise on UK television

From September 2007, gambling companies will be able to place adverts on television in the United Kingdom.

This comes after the passing on the Gambling Act last year, which allows autonomy for companies to reach out to the general public.

Search Engines to ban online gambling advertising?

As published by Daily Reporter: “Two of the web’s biggest search engines have lately tried to inflict a full ban on online gambling.

The supposed reasons for the bar are due to private and government force being put on the search engines but they have yet to reveal their reasons. Though they say the ban is in effect, it seems to be proving difficult to enforce.”

Some months ago Google and Yahoo! – two of the biggest search engines on the net -proclaimed their decision to do away with online gambling ads in total.

Trump Entertainment purchases land for slots hall

Keystone Redevelopment Partners LLC, a group led by Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., recently announced that it has acquired the option to buy the 12-acre headquarters and distribution facility of Tasty Baking Co., in Nicetown, for $1.6 million.

Keystone is competing for a gambling license in the city to build the TrumpStreet Casino and Entertainment Complex.

New agreement between Bally and French Lick Resort & Casino

Bally Technologies recently announced the signing of an agreement with Blue Sky Casino to provide them with the technological solutions they need, plus 300 slot machines for its new casino French Lick Resort & Casino. The casino is due to open in November 2006.

French Lick Resort & Casino has chosen the Casino Management Systems offered by Bally, even when it comes to accounting and administration solutions for the casino’s gambling floor that has an extension of 3000 square meters.

Washington slots supporters want a referendum

Gambling supporters who want to legalize slot machines in Washington are trying to include a referendum in the November ballot. In order to do so, they must collect 19,000 valid signatures by July 10.

The purpose of the referendum is to put slot machines on Martin Luther King Avenue in Southeast D.C. Thirty-five states have already legalized some form of gambling, and those who back this project want the District to enjoy the profits of the multibillion-dollar slot machine business.

Two slot proposals compete for signatures

Queen City Gaming Entertainment Inc. informed that it has the state’s consent to circulate petitions for a proposal to build a slot-machine parlor. The group wants the Ohio Constitution to change and allow slot parlors at the state’s horse tracks and in two sites in Cleveland and one in Cincinnati.

The Ohio Learn and Earn Committee, that submitted a competing proposal, has already gathered about 200,000 signatures, according to spokesman David Hopcraft. Queen City Entertainment needs 323,000 valid signatures to make the November ballot.

Politician wins at slots

It may sound hard to believe, but Republican John Boehner enjoys playing slot machines at Indian casinos in his free time. These casinos have played an important role in an unsolved scandal regarding Jack Abramoff.

But in Boehner’s case, Indian casinos have brought him good luck. The House Majority Leader won $2,700 dollars. This amount was included in his personal financial report, stating that the representative had won it at Kewadin Casino, Manistique.

Internet gambling addict lost £158,000

Richard Mahan (25) had won £90,000 gambling in an online casino. But his luck soon changed and, ignoring the sage advice of gamblers everywhere, he tried to claw his way back.

He used 13 of his parents’ credit cards and, as he gambled into the early hours, ran up debts of £158,000. Mahan then tried to kill himself in what is believed to be Scotland’s worst case of internet gambling addiction.
